Annual Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Co. Turkey Dinner (Saturday February 15, 2014 From 12 Noon - 8 PM)
The Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company is located at the corner of South Bay Avenue and Amber Street in Beach Haven, NJ. The annual turkey dinner is usually held on the Saturday of President's Day weekend from 12 noon - 8 pm and costs $20 with tickets available at the door.
The annual turkey dinner is usually the first weekend seasonal homeowners come down to check out their homes since they closed them up the previous fall. God Willing they will never come down and see the damage from another Superstorm Sandy.
The annual turkey dinner usually serves about 2,000 people and everyone is invited to eat in or take out and enjoy the feast. The dinner includes a hot plate of turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and green beans. For the dessert there is a selection of homemade pies, cakes and cookies.
Proceeds from the annual turkey dinner usually go into the Volunteer Fire Department’s general fund for routine maintenance and various expenses. During Superstorm Sandy the firehouse was inundated with 4 feet of water, resulting in one fire truck lost and many pieces of equipment ruined.
The turkey dinner will be cooked with new appliances because the flood waters destroyed the existing kitchen and it had to be replaced. The turkey dinner workers are all Volunteers and any Volunteer servers are welcome to come and help serve the dinner.
