Meet at 9 am at the Chamber Office on 9th Street in Ship Bottom for door prizes, coffee and bagels, then join us at the Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Co #1 Station on 21st and Central Ave where the members of Team Mullet, a local fishing club will share their knowledge of surf fishing equipment, casting, bait driving a 4x4 vechicle on the beach and much more.
Weather permitting we will go to the 9th St Ship Bottom beach for hands on instruction. YOU MAY WANT TO BRING A FOLDING CHAIR FOR COMFORT ON THE BEACH.
There's a prize drawing at th end of the Fire House segment of the seminar. You must be present to win.

LBI Annual Fishing Tournament Since 1955
Since 1955 the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, with generous support from the Long Beach Island business community, has sponsored the Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament.
More than 1,000 LBI anglers register each year. During the six-week fall tournament, anglers weigh in striped bass and bluefish to compete for thousands of dollars of tournament-sponsored daily, weekly, segment, and grand prizes. In addition, there are prizes and awards presented by businesses, fishing clubs, and Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament participants and supporters.
A highlight of the tournament is the annual Free "Super Surf Casting Seminar" traditionally held the second Saturday of the tournament. We meet at the Chamber of Commerce on 9th Street in Ship Bottom for coffee and bagels, then gather on the beach at 9th Street in Ship Bottom where the members of the Surf City Anglers, a local fishing club, generously share their knowledge about surf fishing equipment, surf casting, bait, 4-wheel drive vehicles on the beach, and much more.
Registrations for the tournament are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce, open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. The registrations are also on sale at the weigh-in stations.
The first 1000 registered anglers receive A LBI Surf Fishing Tournament hat.
A free exterior carwash coupon presented by Manahawkin Magic Wash (The value of the 1000 coupons totals $ 8,000).
A coupon for a free slice of Panzone's Cheese Pizza, presented by Panzone's Pizza, Surf City (the value of the 100 coupons totals $ 2,500).
An LBI Surf Fishing Tournament Tradition: In addition to the prizes and awards presented by the Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament, there are thousands of $$$ in special prizes presented by businesses, fishing clubs, and tournament participants and supporters.

LBI Annual Striped Bass Derby At Sea Shell Beach Club (On Long Beach Island, NJ)
Every October, many of the best striped bass anglers on the East Coast sign up their boats and crews to compete in LBI's final fishing tournament of the season. Our weekend-long competition benefits local charities such as Beach Haven Volunteer First Aid Squad, The LBI Community Activities Center in Beach Haven and the LBI Museum. In 2005, the Tourney raised $14,000 for the First Aid Squad.
The Sea Shell's club, motel and restaurant provides everything needed on site, except of course for the bass. The 2006 proceeds went to benefit The Beach Haven Volunteer Fire epartment. Besides great fishing, we offer plenty of social activities such as banquets, cocktail parties and the Grand Awards Banquet & Family Fish Fry on Sunday. As well as, deluxe accommodations at our oceanfront motel.
