Annual Lighthouse International Film Festival June 5 - 8, 2014
About The LighthouseInternationalFilmFestival
The Lighthouse International Film Festival was founded by a collection of filmmakers, film critics and film industry professionals who share a passion for film and wanted to create an event aimed first and foremost at film enthusiasts.
The 2013 festival was the FIFTH YEAR for the Lighthouse International Film Festival which marks the start of the summer season here on LBI. It was expanded to include a gala opening night movie at the Surflight Theater in Beach Haven on Thursday evening June 6th and will continue with movies at Surflight and the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts and Sciences (LBIF) on Friday night and screenings all day Saturday and Sunday at the LBIF, at the Island Baptist Church and at the Maritime Museum. The Festival concludes with a fabulous Awards Ceremony and party at the Dutchmans Brauhaus on Sunday evening, June 9th.
The 2013 festival is again taking place on Beautiful Long Beach Island, NJ -- one of the East Coast's most popular vacation and surfing destinations.
To Volunteer ForLighthouseInternationalFilmFestival The Lighthouse International Film Festival needs you! Every year our wonderful volunteers make the Film Festival a huge success. People come from all around the world to The Lighthouse Film Festival on Long Beach Island, NJ. Our Volunteers meet new people from everywhere and are part of the action!
To make this entire weekend run smoothly, the Festival relies on a corps of dedicated volunteers who have already been working on selecting movies, writing commercials and advertising, creating and placing posters and rack cards and soliciting sponsors. But that is only a part of what is needed to get the movie going public buying their tickets, into their seats, attending parties, voting for their favorite films, meeting the filmmakers and having a seamless and excellent experience at the Festival.
According to Christine Rooney, Festival Managing Director, “This is where YOU come in! We need volunteers to escort celebrities, as ticket takers, sign posters, gift bag assemblers, program guide distributers, merchandise sellers, data collectors and so much more. We need approximately 100 individuals to help out starting months before the festival, during the festival weekend and for a few days after the weekend.”
Volunteering has its rewards besides a T shirt and tickets to movies. It is the comradeship of working with terrific people; the chance to meet the filmmakers, directors and actors whose work is being shown; the idea of learning more about the independent film business and the chance to see films before they are released to the public.
On Sunday, April 28 at 3 pm an ALL VOLUNTEER MEETING is scheduled at the Chamber of Commerce office at 265 West 9th Street in Ship Bottom. This is for new and old volunteers to learn what is new and improved this year.
Again according to Rooney, “without our volunteers, we could not run this event successfully!” If someone wants to volunteer or learn more about volunteering and cannot attend the meeting on April 28th, please contact us through our website at www.LighthouseFilmFestival.org/volunteer.html."We would also like students to know that they can still submit films for consideration to be shown at the Festival by going to our website at www.LighthouseFilmFestival.com.
So get involved - Volunteer! Help spread the word to your friends and family.
An EASY way to help is to spread the word about volunteering. E-mail our newsletter to your friends, post our events on your Facebook, and invite a friend to a movie. To volunteer e-mail Christine Rooney, Volunteer Coordinatorliffinfo@gmail.com.
